Dolores Marie Noonan 1939 - 2025
Wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully in Omaha, Nebraska April 23, 2025 at the age of 85. She will be remembered as a selfless and caring person who truly loved everyone without prejudice or judgement. Her family was her highest priority in life.
She was born September 16th, 1939, in Dunlap, Iowa, the sixth of seven children of parents John and Sylvia Broderick. The Broderick family moved from Dunlap, Iowa to Columbus, Nebraska when Dolores was in elementary school. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1957. She married Don Noonan in 1960 and together they moved to Omaha, Nebraska. She worked several jobs prior to her most loved and treasured role of being a stay-at-home mother. When the youngest child went to elementary school, Dolores returned to work at Frank Stoysich Meats, which allowed her to be right across the street from where her children went to school. Her greatest talent was loving and caring for children. After retirement, she went on to be a nanny for three boys she loved as her own and her youngest grandchild. She supported the neighborhood kids in creating costumes and preparing snacks for the many performances the children held. She was known to be kind to all and often had lengthy conversations with people she just met which often resulted in a hug. She was a very supportive neighbor and friend and was the first to provide support with various neighbor family emergencies that most people would not have the strength to endure.
She was preceded in death by daughter Terri Hendryx, parents John and Sylvia Broderick, brothers Phil and John Broderick, sisters Gwen Ferguson and Sheila Williams, mother-in-law and father-in-law Agnes and Einar Sorensen, sister-in-law Marilyn (Skip) Harsh, brother-in-law Joe Noonan.
Dolores will be greatly missed by her beloved husband, Don; her daughter, Kim (Todd) Pestal; sons, Rick (June) Noonan, Jack Noonan, Dave (Kay) Noonan; and son-in-law Ron Hendryx. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life. Each one of them felt like they were Mimi’s favorite: Rebecca Pestal, Jeremy (Kara) Baker, Angela Baker, Nicole Baker, Johnny Jones, Dishire Villegas, Queena Asia, John Replogle, and Julie Nielsen; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Joanne Scovel and Judy Stawniak; friends, and extended family members.
Burial will take place at Omaha National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Holy Ghost St Vincent De Paul or Stephen Center
