Joseph G. "Peppy" Prue, Jr., 83

Joseph George “Peppy” Prue, 83, formerly of Omaha, Nebraska passed away peacefully in his sleep at Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home in Hebron, Nebraska on April 9, 2025.
He was born in Omaha, NE to Joseph and Marie (Goldax) Prue on May 4, 1941. As a child, he enjoyed running around South Omaha with friends and trips to the Rosebud reservation to spend time with family. Peppy graduated from Omaha South High School in 1959 and worked various jobs. Some of these include being a cook at Ross’s Steakhouse, a supervisor at Falstaff Brewing and a bartender at the Drift Inn, Jet and Kuta’s Korner.
In April of 1975, he married Sandra Baker and resided in Bellevue until their divorce. Peppy had two children, Joseph born in 1964 and Natalie in 1977.
Peppy enjoyed playing pool and watching sports, one of his favorites being horse racing. Viewing the Kentucky Derby at the local horse track was a yearly tradition for him and he obtained a large collection of Derby glasses over time. His Lakota heritage was very important to him and he attended the annual pow wow in Rosebud, SD for as long as he could travel.
Peppy is survived by his two children, Joseph Wagner of Fort Worth, Texas and Natalie (Ryan) Waters of Hebron, NE; as well as his 3 grandchildren, Amber Jean, Milo Joseph and Jonas Robert. He is also survived by sisters Velma “Dottie” Douchey and Lynda Tomasello, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Burial will occur on Thursday, April 17th at 11:00am at Calvary Episcopal Cemetery in Okreek, SD.
