October 30, 1952 -  February 26, 2025

Richard D. Eisenhardt, 72

Richard David Eisenhardt, affectionately known as “Rich,” “Ike,” or “Uncle Richie,” passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska, due to multiple health complications.
Born on October 30, 1952, in Bronx, New York, Rich was the son of the late Richard P. Eisenhardt and Ruth L. Bystrom. In 1954, his family relocated to Omaha, Nebraska, where he remained a lifelong resident. He graduated from Omaha South High School in 1970 and soon after proudly served in the U.S. Army for four years, stationed in Germany.

Upon returning to Omaha, Rich became a union carpenter, but in 1978, his life took a dramatic turn when a motorcycle accident left him paralyzed. Despite this challenge, he demonstrated incredible resilience and determination, earning a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Nebraska. He later built a career at Offutt Air Force Base, where he worked until his retirement in 2015.
A passionate Nebraska Cornhuskers fan, Rich held season tickets since 1978 and rarely missed a home game, attending numerous bowl games over the years. He was also a talented marksman, earning national recognition as a Silhouette Shooting Champion.

After retiring, Rich enjoyed spending winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama, with his sister Karla, where he found joy in playing cards and spending time with friends.

Rich is survived by his beloved sister, Karla Eisenhardt Woodring of Gulf Shores, AL; nieces Michelle Woodring Scarbrough of Omaha, NE, and Vicki Woodring Pishna of Orange Beach, AL; great-niece Mikayla Pishna and great-nephew Charlie Pishna. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Eisenhardt of Omaha, NE, and niece, Bridgette Woodring Mitchell of Millbrook, AL.

Rich’s unwavering spirit, love for family, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors or Paralyzed Veterans of America in Rich’s honor.
