Thomas P. “Honey” Riley Sr., 68
Thomas “Honey” Riley, Sr. was born to Donald and (Beulah) Patricia Riley on March 12, 1956, in O’Neill, NE. God took him peacefully into his arms on February 24, 2025, at his home, after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. He was surrounded by family and close friends.
While growing up, Tom spent summers working for his aunt and uncle on their farm in O’Neill. He attended Omaha South High, graduating in 1974. Tom welcomed his only son, Tom Jr., with his first wife, Vicki.
After working for United AG for 16 years, Tom started a new career at the M.U.D. in 1997 where he met the love of his life, Lisa. They married on Valentine’s Day in a 2007 ceremony in Las Vegas. They made their home in Papillion where they loved hosting friends. Tom was active in the career he loved, serving as union president for 12+ years for IBEW1521 before his retirement in 2019. Tom will be remembered for his leadership, compassion, and strong commitment to doing the right thing.
Tom cherished hunting trips with his son and grandsons and fishing trips with his closest friends. Tom was known as “Honey” because Lisa saddled him with that nickname early on. “Papa” was the name he treasured most of all. Tom touched countless lives and will be missed dearly by all who were lucky to know him.
Tom is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Riley; parents, Donald and (Beulah) Patricia Riley; Aunt Violet and Uncle Lowell Clouse.
Tom is survived by his wife, Lisa; son, Tom Jr. (Tonya) Riley; grandsons, Tyler and Tarin Riley; daughter, Katie Montag; grandson, Landry Montag; special friends, Tom and Kitty Rasmussen and their family; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
