In Loving Memory of Kevin John Young

Kevin Young, 65, passed away on February 20, 2025, after a courageous battle with small cell lung cancer. While his time with us was cut short, the laughter, love, and creativity he brought into the world will live on forever. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Susan; his two daughters, Brittany and Andrea; and his grandson, Thayer.

A true jokester at heart, Kevin could always lighten the mood with a well-timed quip or a playful comment, reminding everyone not to take life too seriously. One unforgettable phrase that will always stay with us was his signature remark, “Oh, was that a tree frog?”—a line he loved to say every time he let out a fart. His quick wit, sharp sarcasm, and ability to find joy in life’s little moments made him truly one of a kind.

Kevin’s love for science fiction and fantasy fueled his imagination, transporting him into worlds beyond the ordinary. He was a devoted fan of Star Wars and Star Trek, embracing both galaxies far, far away and the voyages of the Starship Enterprise with equal enthusiasm. His passion lives on in the collection of sci-fi and fantasy memorabilia he left behind, from treasured Star Trek collectibles to his beloved dragon statues.

A builder in every sense of the word, Kevin found joy in creating—whether it was crafting intricate Lego masterpieces, working with wood, or tackling hands-on projects. His artistic soul shone through in everything he touched, from his woodworking to his passion for painting and drawing. His creativity was boundless, and his work reflected the unique way he saw the world.

At home, Kevin surrounded himself with the things he loved—his cherished cats, who always knew they had a special place in his heart, and the music that defined him. He was a true rock lover, blasting the legendary sounds of Ozzy Osbourne and Metallica at full volume.

When it came to sports, Kevin’s loyalty was unwavering—he was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan, bleeding green and gold through every game, every season, no matter the outcome. His love for soccer was just as strong. As a dedicated coach for Andrea’s childhood soccer team, he cheered her and her teammates on with the same energy and passion he brought to every part of his life.

Above all, Kevin was a man who loved deeply and gave generously. His family, friends, and all who knew him will forever carry his spirit in the stories, jokes, and creative sparks he left behind. Though he will be dearly missed by those who knew him well, and even by those who barely had the chance—like his 10-month-old grandson, Thayer—he is now reunited with his parents and his brother, Patrick, who surely welcomed him with open arms.

A visitation to honor Kevin Young will be held on February 24 at 5pm at Korisko Larkin & Staskiewicz, with a burial service to follow in the spring when the weather is warmer. Further details will be shared at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF) in his memory.

Though he may be gone, his legacy—one of laughter, creativity, and love—will never fade.
