Alvin F. Pfeifer, 97
Alvin F. Pfeifer, born on September 29, 1927, in Humphrey, Nebraska, to Rochus and Caroline (Foltz) Pfeifer, grew up on a farm. After graduating from St. Francis School in 1945, he was drafted into World War II. Upon his discharge, he soon after joined the seminary but ultimately felt a calling elsewhere.
On September 5, 1964, Alvin was united in marriage to Margaret Schram at St Columbkille Catholic Church in Papillon, Nebraska.
He worked for a few years before pursuing a career in computers. His skills led him to a job at the Columban Fathers, where he dedicated the next 30 years of his life. Throughout his life, he remained actively involved in volunteering, serving as a Eucharist minister at nursing homes and at the hospital. His years of dedicated service was recognized with an award.
He was a devoted St Thomas More parishioner involved in various activities with the school and the Knights of Columbus.
He cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren, friends and family.
Alvin is survived by a daughter, Ann (Jon), son Joseph (Raquel) and son Gregg (Kari) grandchildren: Kyle, Kevin ( Makayla), Joshua, Maisy, Max and 28 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse Margaret, his sisters: Sr. Helen Ann Pfeifer, OSF, Florence Pfeifer, Eileen Labenz, Bernadine Boesch, and Thelma Veik his brothers: William, Br. Rock (Maurice), OFM, Melvin, sister-in-law, Edna Pfeifer, sister-in-law Mary Pfeifer, brother-in-law Jerry Boesch, and brother-in-law, Art Veik and brother-in-law Eugene “Gene” Labenz |
