Ronald J. Egermier, 51


Ronald John Egermier, born September 20, 1973, in Omaha, Nebraska, passed away suddenly on September 27, 2024. Ron was the beloved son of Margaret Egermier (Krejci) and the late John (Jack) Egermier and the brother of Debbie (Rice), Rick and Krista Egermier.

On November 10, 1989 Ron was in a car accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down. Ron spent the next 35 years navigating life in a wheelchair. He did this with grace and courage. He was never afraid to try things he was told he may not be able to do. He continued to drive a truck, hunt, fish, ride roller coasters, work, own his own house for a while, etc. He never backed down from a challenge.

Ron never married and did not have children. However, many knew him as Uncle Ronnie. He was the extremely proud uncle of 7 nephews and 7 nieces. He loved them as if they were his own and always found a reason to spoil them. He attended most of his nieces and nephews sporting events at Gross Catholic High School and St. Columbkille and St Bernadette grade school. He was always their biggest fan. He followed Gross Catholic football wherever they went, including to the state championship game in 2022. He even coached for a while in the Jr Cougar football program. He went to soccer and baseball games, wrestling meets and the state track meet. He occupied a permanent place right inside the Gross Catholic gym for basketball and volleyball games. Because he was always at these events, he became a fan and step-uncle to many of his nieces and nephews’ friends and teammates as well. He cheered for them all!

Ron was also a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He has stuck with both teams through thick and thin. Because of his devotion to both teams, his nephews (and some of his nieces) are huge fans as well.

Ronnie loved to hang out with his siblings. Any friends of Bill and Debbie, Rick and Maureen and Krissy soon became his friends as well. He celebrated with them, took vacations with them and even hosted them at his house on Beaver Lake.

Ron worked for Arby’s on 50th and G for many years. His regular customers would always be greeted with his friendly hello. Often they brought him cookies and other gifts to share with him.

Ron’s love language was giving gifts. His favorite place to order from was QVC. He bought Christmas gifts beginning in July with the Christmas in July sales. He also loved gadgets. He had portables of many things around the house or in his backpack that went everywhere with him.

The past 4 years as Ron’s health declined, he decided to sell his home and move in with his mom and sister, Krissy. Ron enjoyed his last days in their company.

Ron will be missed dearly by his mom, Marge Egermier, sister, Krista Egermier, brother, Rick and sister-in-law Maureen, and sister Debbie Rice and brother-in-law, Bill. He will live on in the hearts of his beloved nieces and nephews, Anton Rice and Taylor, Vince Rice and Rachel, Cole Egermier, Meg and Zach Helms, Josie Egermier, Sam Egermier and Katie, Will Rice and Anna, Sophie Egermier, Luke Rice, Tessa Egermier, Ellie Rice, Ben Rice, Anna Rice and Emma Rice.
