James E. "Jim" Skarda, 74

James Edward "Jim" Skarda, a proud combat veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and the Vietnam War, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024.

The son of Edward F. and Regina A. (Graham) Skarda, Jim grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born July 3, 1950 and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Omaha South High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, served in the Vietnam War, then transferred to the Marine Corps Reserve. He worked the majority of his career as an electrician, retiring from the IBEW Local 22. He volunteered for the Disabled American Veterans organization, serving as Commander of the Omaha chapter for several years. He also supported the American GI Forum in Omaha.

Jim is survived by the mother of his children Cynthia Skarda; daughters Jackie (Trent) Mitchell and Rachel Skarda; grandchildren Carter Washington, Edith Mitchell and Gwen Mitchell; sister Mary Wilson; many other loving family members and friends. His loved ones will remember him as an enthusiastic storyteller who loved to gather with family and friends.
