Born in Omaha, he died at Mercy General Memorial Hospital in Sacramento CA after a lengthy battle with heart disease.

Gene spent his early years in Omaha,NE. He married Jean Ann Peck on January 26, 1951. He worked in sales and marketing for Westinghouse Electric until 1977, with his career transferring him from Omaha to Chicago, IL and finally to northern New Jersey. He then moved to Blue Hll, NE and worked in sales for Dutton-Lainson Company in Hastings NE until 1985.

He farmed north of Red Cloud, NE for 10 years. In 1987 he moved to Dallas, TX and worked in sales for Phillips Lighting Company. He retired and moved to Council Bluffs, IA in 2000, and then moved to Lodi, CA in 2005.

Preceding him in death were his wife Jean (October 25, 1986); his parents; and his older brother.
