Rose M. Romaire (Portera), 100

Rose Romaire died peacefully on December 23, 2023 and was re-united with the love of her life, Amos Richard Romaire, after an absence of over 14 years. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, to Joseph Rosario Portera and Providenza Glorioso Portera, natives of Cefalu, Sicily.

Rose lived most of her entire life in the South Omaha area, first as a member of St. Patrick’s parish and then St. Thomas More parish. Her last few years were spent in assisted living.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dick; granddaughter Emily John; her brothers Richard Portera, Anthony Portera, and Sam Portera; and her sister Anne Portera.

She is survived by her son Frank, son Joseph (Carol), daughter Suzanne Purcell (Tom), daughter Mari John (Mark, Sr.), son John (Lori), and son Robert (Dawn); nineteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
