Zoila Myrna Navarro, 84
Born in Luzon Philippines on September 26, 1939 to Perfecto and Mercedes Di Mailig. She was the 2nd to the youngest of eighteen children. Myrna graduated with an accounting degree from the Manilla College of Commerce. She married Carlos on July 13, 1963 and moved to the United States in October 1963, upon completion of his military service.
In the early years, she worked at Western Electric. She left Western Electric to raise her family and babysit/raise many other children. She volunteered at school and was the OG Norma Rae of Mi Mama’s tortillas. She loved to travel and explore new places. She was always up to date on current affairs because she read the entire newspaper daily. She loved to play mahjong, bingo and slot machines. She was snarky, funny and a 4’11” fireball. Through the years Myrna maintained her relationship with her best friends as part of the CHARMM sisters; Consuelo, H*** (known only to the sisters), Adeleine, Rose, Maring, and of course Myrna.
Myrna passed peacefully at home in the early hours of October 14th. Her children were by her side.
Preceded in death by husband Carlos and grandson, D.J. Shire.
Survived by children Merlee Shire (David), Josie Lynn "Dee-Dee" Rau (John), Carlos Navarro, Jr. (Angie), and Bernadette Wallace (Mike). Myrna has 11 grandchildren; David Shire “DJ”, Christina Shire, Ian Rau, Emelia Rau, Evan Rau, Elizabeth Fernandez, Jessica Tirado, Carlos Navarro III “Trey”, Victoria Navarro “Tori”, David Navarro, Megan Pein, and Olivia Wallace. Myrna also has 7 great-grandchildren; Kennedy Shire, Clayton Rau, Alexis Fernandez, Samantha Fernandez, Danila Fernandez, Cassaundra Tanguma, and Henry Pein. She also has a multitude of nieces and nephews and cousins all over the globe.
