Marie Theresa Foss Powers, 90, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on March 31, 2023. She was sweet, caring, and Marie will be remembered and missed by the many lives she touched.

Marie was born on April 17, 1932, to Paul and Frances Foss in Petersburg, Nebraska. After graduating from St. John Baptist in 1950. She left Petersburg and moved to Omaha shortly after graduation.

She married David Powers on September 11, 1954. Marie and David went on to have five children: Rachel, Robert, James, Thomas, and Michael.

Marie worked in a successful career at Mutual of Omaha for many years. She retired briefly and then worked at home for various hospitals doing medical transcriptions – a skill learned in her time at Creighton University.

Dogs and gardening were two of her greatest joys. Dundee neighbors saw her walking a dog around the block daily. If you popped by her house, chances are Marie was in the garden, planting flowers, or doing yardwork with a furry friend by her side. Even cleaning gutters, raking leaves, shoveling, or mixing cement; she was stubborn lady, a trait she passed on to her offspring.

Marie was preceded in death by David Powers (husband), Jim and Shirley Foss (brother and wife), Dick and Ginny Foss (brother and wife), Paul and Ruth Foss (brother and wife), Fran and Bob Hansen (sister and husband), Anna and Duane Thiem (sister and husband), and Thomas Powers (son).

Marie is survived by her sons Bob Powers (Donna), Jim Powers, Michael Powers (Sarah), and daughter Rachel, 7 grandchildren: Jenny, Teressa, Steve, Carianne, Cory, Nicholas, Marie, along with cousins, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
