Jay was born June 8, 1925 in Kansas City, Kansas. She moved to Omaha in 1928 and grew up in South Omaha in a large family of two sisters and six brothers. She attended Jungman Elementary School and South High School. Jay met the love of her life Joseph Armetta and the two of them married on January 10, 1943. Together they raised a family of five children in their humble home on 18th and Y Street. Jay could always be seen at the softball or baseball diamonds, watching family, nephews and friends play ball. She loved music, dancing and singing in her brother Arthur's Mexican band. Jay was a beautiful devoted wife and mother. She stressed the love of family and the importance of family staying together in peace and harmony, no matter the circumstance.

Jay was a proud woman and touched many lives. We are all better to have known her. We know she is with family and friends that have gone before her and she is at peace.
