Peter L. Trout, 59

Peter Trout, a man of boundless curiosity and passion, bid farewell to this world at home on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024. With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of a remarkable individual whose presence brought warmth and joy to all who knew him.

Peter was born in Macomb, Illinois to loving parents Bill and Pat Trout. Growing up, Peter was an avid Boy Scout, exploring the outdoors, making intricate knots, and serving the community. Peter has three younger brothers, Hugh, Andrew, and Michael, who made him endlessly proud. The Trout family moved to various states with the US Air Force. In the mid-80s, Peter would make his last move with the family when they were stationed at Offutt Air Force Base.

Unbeknownst to Peter, accepting a job in Omaha as a maintenance man with McDonald's would turn into a highly successful 40+ year career. He not only found a challenging work environment where he thrived and mentored others to success, but also made countless friends who quickly became family that would share dinners, be honored as godparents, and travel together. Of course, he most notably met the mcLove of his life, Denise. The pair married in 1988. Together, Denise and Peter welcomed the three most perfect McNuggets in all the land, Megan, Alexis, and Zachary.

His fascination with cars, technology, and science fiction was not merely a hobby but a testament to his relentless pursuit of knowledge. He could be found tinkering under the hood of his cars, testing the limits of every outlet in the house, and adding to his lifelong music, comic, and movie collection. His eyes would light up as he recounted the feats of planes and the marvels that shaped history during the tours he led at the SAC museum and at countless air shows.

Peter had a deep appreciation for sports, grilling, and his favorite children, the dogs. His second home was rink side with the Omaha Lancers as a spectator, official, and booster club member. He was a pillar of his community giving his time and helping others at the Ronald McDonald House, scaring at Mystery Manor, and guiding young innovators as Pack Leader for the scouts.

His love for his family and friends knew no bounds. Since no one fights alone, many of us were fortunate to get to make his final years as cherished as possible by going with him to attend the symphony, fly in a P-51 Mustang, meet Dan Patrick in Vegas, experience Niagara Falls, tour Washington DC, visit the Johnson Space Center, see the Eagles, and cheer from box seats for the Steelers, Knights, and Chiefs.

As we bid farewell to Peter, let us take comfort in the memories we shared and the legacy he leaves behind. Though he may have taken his final flight, his spirit will continue to soar in the hearts and minds of so many.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Ronald McDonald House in Omaha, the Houston Ground Angels, or WEISSTRONG in honor of Peter.

May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love and gratitude of those whose lives he touched.
