Norma Jean Kelley Schnase "Miss Jean", 87

Norma was born July 29, 1930 to Albert & Edna (Bachmann) Kelley. She grew up in South Omaha and was a 1948 graduate of South High School. She married Fred Schnase, Sr. on February 26,1949. Norma entered eternal life on February 1, 2018 (Fred Sr.'s birthday!).

Norma was active in PTA and her children's activities; the young family enjoyed camping in their 5th wheel. "Grammy" adored her grandchildren, and was thrilled to know each great grandchild. She loved children.

She worked various office positions but her desire was to be a teacher or a missionary. Her life revolved around the church serving as a Sunday School Teacher & Confirmation Teacher at St. Luke's Lutheran Church where she was a life member, and also served as a Bible Camp Counselor. She was the writer, producer, presenter of a television Sunday School ministry "Jean's Storytime" from 1956-1994. The ministry continued until 2011.

Norma received the Gold Frame National TV Award, Lutheran of the Year Award, and was inducted into the South High School Hall of Fame.

Norma is survived by daughter Eileen (Bob) Thornburg of Fremont; son Fred Jr. (Maribeth) Schnase of Omaha. Grandchildren: Brock (Laura) Thornburg, Clint (Susan) Schnase, Laura (Bryan) Thomas, Parker (Stephanie) Thornburg; Tammee (Tim) Burk; Brian (Angela) Burns. Great grandchildren: Jack and Lauren Jean Thornburg; Eleanor Schnase; Aidan, Jocelyn, Carson Thomas; Addison, Reid, Decklyn Thornburg. Sisters-in-law: Marie Jakubowski and Fran Sock; brother-in-law Pat Almgren. Cousin Ardith Gosch. Extended family: Jim and Connie Smith. Nieces, nephews, friends.

Preceded in death by parents; husband of 60 years Fred Schnase, Sr.; brothers Albert Kelley, Jr. and Clint (Lillian) Kelley, infant sister Elaine.
