Margaret J. Daley 98
Growing up on Maiden Lane in Plattsmouth Nebraska, safely nestled between her Little Gramma's house to the south and her Big Gramma's house to the north, was a wonderful place for young Margaret Rabb to come to age. Her father Andy Rabb worked as a blacksmith at the Burlington roundhouse and either grew most of what her family ate in the gardens and the small orchard that surrounded their small house or caught fish or shot rabbits and squirrels. In doing so he instilled the value of hard work in his oldest daughter, Sis. Her brothers Fred and Ray "harvested" the windfall of coal that fell from the rail cars passing south of their house and used it to heat the house and warm their cook stove. Her mother Anna, her younger sister Nub, her little Gramma who lived with them and Sis canned hundreds of jars of cherries and other fruit and vegtables each year and stored the in the cave next to the house to provide for a year-round supplies of fruits and vegtables. After she came of age and her family moved to south Omaha, each day Sis and Nub rode the street car downtown to work at the Tip-Top factory. Soon she Paul Daley and started her own family first with her daughters Patricia and Joanne before the war and then her sons James and Daniel after the war. Life was neither idillic nor easy but she enjoyed serving at the president of the altar society at Saint Bridget's church and working for twenty-five years at the Richmond-Gordman stores. Most of the tables and chests in her house and those of children and grandchildren are covered with the doilies she crocheted for them. She loved spending her Thursdays hunting for all the bargains at garage sales around south Omaha. And she enjoyed playing rummy and winning almost until the time of her passing .

Preceded in death by Husband Paul V.; grandchildren Annette, Elizabeth, and John Douglas;2 brothers and one sister. Survived by children Patricia (Wally) Sefic, Joanne Morey, James Sr. (Carol) Daley, Daniel (Theresa) Daley; grandchildren Cindy, Ann Marie, Loretta, Kathy, Patty, David , Mike, Jim Jr., Jill, Paul, Kate; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
