I “cruise” the internet from time to time, searching for old friends, seeing if anything pops up. A couple of days ago, courtesy of Google, I happened to see this sad bit of news, a few months after the fact.

From approximately 1977 to 1982 I played in several bands/groups with Ron in Omaha. I have to say that I always had a good time when we would get together and play/perform. I really enjoyed the music that we made together, and I'd hope that he felt the same way. Ron really had a passion for the heavier blues rock of the period (Mahogany Rush, Pat Travers, Robin Trower, etc), something that I assume we shared to the end.

I moved to Southern California in 1982, but we did manage to keep in contact now and then over the years. The last time I heard from Ron was probably about three years or so ago. Even though our lives would take paths as different as night and day, whenever we would get together and play those differences would cease to exist for the moment.

I got to thinking today, and dug out some old tapes that I still have of us. I put one of them on in his honor and just listened to the memories for a while. I am aware of at least one video that may exist. Also, somewhere on the internet, there used to be a video of Ronny, Bob Halverson and Pi. And a friend of mine in Dallas informed me a couple of months ago that he had discovered an old cassette with Ronny, Bob Halverson and myself (how he ended up with it is beyond me). So here and there, Ron's musical exploits live on.

I wish the best for those family and friends that Ron left behind. If anyone knows how to contact them, please give them my condolences.

Lynette, Cindy, and Bob: I'm so sorry to hear of Ron's passing. It seems like so many people from the old neighborhood have passed. It doesn't seem like it's been that long sine we all went to Ashland Park and roamed Hitchcock Park and the rest of the neighborhood during summers. You are all in my prayers.
