Nancy Srb Vitacco

Carpentersville, IL

I grew up in Omaha seeing Rosie every time I visited my grandpa Srb. She was always so loving toward me and when I could not understand what he was saying because of the effects of his strokes, Rosie always helped me feel comfortable and was like a bridge between me and my grandfather because she understood him so well. I especially remember when she pierced my ears right in my grandfather’s living room. Many Christmases and other events were spent at my grandfather’s home with Rosie always right there welcoming me. She was such an encouragement to me, like a grandmother I never knew on that side of the family. I wish I could have seen her in more recent years. I remember her fondly and will miss her.

Aunt Rosie was a role model for women, way ahead of her time. She was intelligent, independent, and a compassionate caregiver. She truly understood the term, servant leadership, as she took great care of her family and friends. She was very astute about people, and stood up for her beliefs. She was greatly admired and will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, Aunt Rosie.

Paula Schmid Thomassen

Omaha, NE

I grew up with Rosie as our friend and my grandpa’s care giver. Rosie was always so patient with all of us, and there were a lot of us. I remember climbing the cherry tree in the back yard and picking cherries and Rosie took those cherries and turned them into the best cherry pies.

Rosie holds a special place in my heart. I really missed seeing her after grandpa passed away. I know she loved him and took great care of him. I will miss her and will always be grateful for the great care she gave grandpa. Rest In Peace. You will be missed.
